Joshua 1:1-9 "Be strong and courageous" In Your Walk with the Lord The concept of strong & courageous differs from the idea of brave talk or behavior that is intended to impress other people. The word strong (kazakh) comes from a Hebrew root that means "to cleave." Our strength derives from YHVH to whom we cleave, not from mustering manly backbone. The word courageous (amats) comes from the root "to be alert", meaning watchful readiness. To be strong and courageous is to cleave to the Commander. We watch Him, and we watch what He does amid all that is happening. We stand ready to respond to His command. Be strong & courageous; Khazak v'amats!
Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
