Titus 3:1-9 (HCSB)
Remind them to be submissive to rulers and authorities, to obey, to be ready for every good work, to slander no one, to avoid fighting, and to be kind, always showing gentleness to all people. For we too were once foolish, disobedient, deceived, enslaved by various passions and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, detesting one another. But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared,He saved us--
not by works of righteousness that we had done,
but according to His mercy,
through the washing of regeneration
and renewal by the Holy Spirit. He poured out this Spirit on us abundantly
through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that having been justified by His grace,
we may become heirs with the hope of eternal life. This saying is trustworthy. I want you to insist on these things, so that those who have believed God might be careful to devote themselves to good works. These are good and profitable for everyone. But avoid foolish debates, genealogies, quarrels, and disputes about the law, for they are unprofitable and worthless.
Word for the New Year 2019! God's mercy saved us through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit! #WordForNewYear
O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as crucified? This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh? Have you suffered so many things in vain—if indeed it was in vain?
Therefore He who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you, does He do itby the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?— just as Abraham “believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” Therefore know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham. And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, “In you all the nations shall be blessed.” So then those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham.
Paul showed that Abraham pleased God through his faith and that the law did not even exist in Abraham's time. True children of Abraham and heirs to the promised blessing are those who live by the principles of faith. Do you believe?
I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy, for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ; just as it is right for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart, inasmuch as both in my chains and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, you all are partakers with me of grace. For God is my witness, how greatly I long for you all with the affection of Jesus Christ.
And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
Thankfulness is associated with prayer for me. I love this scripture because I know no matter how hard times get I am always thankful that the Lord will complete His work in me and fulfill His glory in my life. Find something to be thankful for! I am very thankful for all who red and believe the Word. #Thankful
I will lift up my eyes to the hills--
From whence comes my help?
My help comes from the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.
He will not allow your foot to [a]be moved;
He who keeps you will not slumber.
Behold, He who keeps Israel
Shall neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord is your [b]keeper;
The Lord is your shade at your right hand.
The sun shall not strike you by day,
Nor the moon by night.
The Lord shall [c]preserve you from all evil;
He shall preserve your soul.
The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in
From this time forth, and even forevermore.
The Lord will KEEP you! Believe Him and LOOK to Him for YOUR help!
No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money/mammon. Matthew 6:24
Have you ever tried to devote all your time to two situations? You can't can you. Something or someone is going to end up on the short end of the stick. That is what He is trying to get us to understand. If we choose to go after the things of this world then we end up putting our relationship with Him on the back burner. Or worse yet, we become lukewarm towards Him. And when that happens, His Word says He will spew you out of His mouth. He would rather we be hot or cold. But when we devote our thoughts, our time, our energies to Him our rewards will be eternal. SIMPLY GRATEFUL!
Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:19-21
There are two meanings for the word Treasure. 1st: to collect and store up (something of value) for future use or to hoard. 2nd: to hold or keep as precious: to cherish. Are you working to collect the things you want and/or love to do? Are those things more important to you than Jesus and your eternal destiny? He is not saying that we are not to enjoy having those things, but He is saying which is most important to you? If you spend most or all of your time spending or doing the things you enjoy and serving Jesus is second place or an afterthought then you have made the things of this earth your treasure.. So which Treasure are you storing up/serving? Selah SIMPLY GRATEFUL!
But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Matthew 6:33-34
Read Matthew 6:25-32 He says why do we worry about what shall we eat? or what shall we drink? or what shall we wear? For although the pagans, "unsaved" run after all these things, your Heavenly Father already knows your needs. These are the "things" he is referring to. BUT, when we seek Him first AND His righteousness, ALL these things will be given to you "AS WELL"! What a beautiful promise! He also tells us not to worry about tomorrow for we do not even know if we will be here. But to concern yourself with today only, trusting Him to feed you, clothe you, take care of you. He will you know, if you will just simply trust HIM! SIMPLY GRATEFUL!
The Lord on high is mightier and more glorious than the noise of many waters, yes, than the mighty breakers and waves of the sea. Your testimonies are very sure; holiness [apparent in separation from sin, with simple trust and hearty obedience] is becoming to Your house, O Lord, forever. Psalm 93:4-5
I love the wording: with SIMPLE trust and HEARTY obedience! Simple trust, not questioning but trusting. And hearty obedience? What does that look like? The definition for Hearty is: Loudly, Cheerful, Vigorous, Exuberant, Uninhibited, Vivacious, Energetic .... You get the picture.......That's where I want to be in my obedience for the Lord! SIMPLY GRATEFUL!
...as the Scripture says, What eye has not seen and ear has not heard and has not entered into the heart of man. God has prepared (made and keeps ready) for those who love Him, who hold Him in affectionate reverence, promptly obeying Him and gratefully recognizing the benefits He has bestowed.
So our question is: Are we READY? Do we hold Him in affectionate REVERENCE? Do we PROMPTLY OBEY Him? Are we GRATEFUL and RECOGNIZE all the benefits He has given us? These are the things we must prepare ourselves to be so that we ARE ready when He calls. SIMPLY GRATEFUL!
“Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:13).
It might not mean you have to die for someone else but it does mean that we die to ourselves and serve one another, and like Jesus, lay down our lives for the brothers and sisters in Christ. SIMPLY GRATEFUL!
