No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money/mammon. Matthew 6:24
Have you ever tried to devote all your time to two situations? You can't can you. Something or someone is going to end up on the short end of the stick. That is what He is trying to get us to understand. If we choose to go after the things of this world then we end up putting our relationship with Him on the back burner. Or worse yet, we become lukewarm towards Him. And when that happens, His Word says He will spew you out of His mouth. He would rather we be hot or cold. But when we devote our thoughts, our time, our energies to Him our rewards will be eternal. SIMPLY GRATEFUL!
Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:19-21
There are two meanings for the word Treasure. 1st: to collect and store up (something of value) for future use or to hoard. 2nd: to hold or keep as precious: to cherish. Are you working to collect the things you want and/or love to do? Are those things more important to you than Jesus and your eternal destiny? He is not saying that we are not to enjoy having those things, but He is saying which is most important to you? If you spend most or all of your time spending or doing the things you enjoy and serving Jesus is second place or an afterthought then you have made the things of this earth your treasure.. So which Treasure are you storing up/serving? Selah SIMPLY GRATEFUL!
But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Matthew 6:33-34
Read Matthew 6:25-32 He says why do we worry about what shall we eat? or what shall we drink? or what shall we wear? For although the pagans, "unsaved" run after all these things, your Heavenly Father already knows your needs. These are the "things" he is referring to. BUT, when we seek Him first AND His righteousness, ALL these things will be given to you "AS WELL"! What a beautiful promise! He also tells us not to worry about tomorrow for we do not even know if we will be here. But to concern yourself with today only, trusting Him to feed you, clothe you, take care of you. He will you know, if you will just simply trust HIM! SIMPLY GRATEFUL!
The Lord on high is mightier and more glorious than the noise of many waters, yes, than the mighty breakers and waves of the sea. Your testimonies are very sure; holiness [apparent in separation from sin, with simple trust and hearty obedience] is becoming to Your house, O Lord, forever. Psalm 93:4-5
I love the wording: with SIMPLE trust and HEARTY obedience! Simple trust, not questioning but trusting. And hearty obedience? What does that look like? The definition for Hearty is: Loudly, Cheerful, Vigorous, Exuberant, Uninhibited, Vivacious, Energetic .... You get the picture.......That's where I want to be in my obedience for the Lord! SIMPLY GRATEFUL!
...as the Scripture says, What eye has not seen and ear has not heard and has not entered into the heart of man. God has prepared (made and keeps ready) for those who love Him, who hold Him in affectionate reverence, promptly obeying Him and gratefully recognizing the benefits He has bestowed.
So our question is: Are we READY? Do we hold Him in affectionate REVERENCE? Do we PROMPTLY OBEY Him? Are we GRATEFUL and RECOGNIZE all the benefits He has given us? These are the things we must prepare ourselves to be so that we ARE ready when He calls. SIMPLY GRATEFUL!
“Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:13).
It might not mean you have to die for someone else but it does mean that we die to ourselves and serve one another, and like Jesus, lay down our lives for the brothers and sisters in Christ. SIMPLY GRATEFUL!
The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God. 1 Corinthians 1:18
We cannot convince anyone to receive Christ for it is only His power that will bring the conviction and ultimately their salvation. Our job is to share the gospel, live and set the example. SIMPLY GRATEFUL!
Who shall go up into the mountain of the Lord? Or who shall stand in His Holy Place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted himself up to falsehood or to what is false, nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive blessing from the Lord and righteousness from the God of salvation. Psalm 24:3-5
If we are to stand in His Holy Place we must make sure that we carry no offense, carry no anger, carry no unforgiveness, but have a pure heart and clean hands. And that can come only through the cleansing blood of Jesus! SIMPLY GRATEFUL!
Because you has set your love upon Me, therefore will I deliver you; I will set you on high, because you know and understand My name [has a personal knowledge of My mercy, love, and kindness--trusts and relies on Me, knowing I will never forsake you, no, never] Psalm 91:14
Oh how He loves you! You are His Portion and He is your prize. No, He will never forsake you, no, never! SIMPLY GRATEFUL!
The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not Want: He leads me beside Still Waters, He restores my Soul: He leads me in the Path of Righteousness, FOR HIS NAME SAKE....Ps. 23
For His Name Sake: That's PURPOSE. The definition for PURPOSE is: The reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists. How exciting is that! When we call upon His Name something will be done or created or it already exists! So don't be afraid to call upon His Name knowing that He has already answered! SIMPLY GRATEFUL!
