Do not be wise in your own eyes; FEAR THE LORD AND DEPART FROM EVIL.....Proverbs 3:7b
Most people do not realize there are two types of fear. There is the fear of danger, fear of people, fear of situations. They are afraid of His power and afraid of His righteousness. But the FEAR of the LORD that the bible speaks of is REVERENCE for a Holy God. A profound reverence, adoring awed respect. Honor and respect felt or shown, to glorify! Does that sound like someone to be afraid of? Our God is a HOLY God! The only time there should be "FEAR" is when we turn away from Him and follow the ways of the evil one. So the Scripture could be read this way: "Honor, respect, reverence" the Lord and depart from evil....SIMPLY GRATEFUL!
Do not be wise in your own eyes....Proverbs 3:7a
There is natural wisdom and then there is the Wisdom of God. If we are using wisdom only based from our experiences and our thoughts then they are flawed because they are based upon our feelings and our perspective. But the Wisdom of God comes through our experiences, our walk, AND our having that personal relationship through God and His ways. And anytime wisdom lines up with God's Word then you are using God's Wisdom. SIMPLY GRATEFUL!
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, AND HE SHALL DIRECT YOUR PATHS.
Every day we are faced with choices. It is ONLY when we have that personal relationship with Him [Trust], that we can hear [lean not unto our own understanding], Him direct our steps and show us which path to take [acknowledge Him]. SIMPLY GRATEFUL!
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; IN ALL YOUR WAYS ACKNOWLEDGE HIM. . .Proverbs 3:5-6
Are you recognizing Jesus working in your life in every area. Are you giving Him credit for every good thing? In ALL your ways, in everything you do, in every area of your life, ACKNOWLEDGE HIM, giving Him your praise and glory! SIMPLY GRATEFUL!
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, AND LEAN NOT ON YOUR OWN UNDERSTANDING... Proverbs 3:5
LEAN NOT: He is saying do not [support yourself] on your own understanding. His ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts. Our understanding is flawed because at best, it is based on our perspective and our feelings. Look at Romans 11:33 And that is why He tells us to TRUST Him with ALL our heart. SIMPLY GRATEFUL!
Trust in the Lord with all your heart....Proverbs 3:5a
Do you find it difficult to trust because of past hurts and past betrayals? Man has always given us reasons to not trust. But Jesus....Because His Word NEVER changes and His love NEVER fails, you can trust Him with ALL of your heart! SIMPLY GRATEFUL!
...to give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness. Psalm 61:3
The Hebrew root for "garment" shows praise as more than a piece of clothing casually thrown over our shoulders. It literally teaches us "to wrap" or "cover" ourselves--that the garment of praise is to leave no openings through which hostile elements can penetrate. This garment of praise repels and replaces the heavy spirit. This special message of instruction and hope is for those oppressed by feat or doubt. "Put on" this garment. A warm coat from our closet only resists the cold wind when it is "put on." when distressed, be dressed---with praise! Act according to God's Word. SIMPLY GRATEFUL!
He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Psalm 40:3
God invites us to see His face so He can change ours. He uses our uncovered faces to display His glory. . .By His fingers, wrinkles of worry are rubbed away. Shadows of shame and doubt become portraits of grace and trust. He relaxes the clinched jaws and smoothes furrowed brows. His touch can remove the bags of exhaustion from beneath thge eyes and turn tears of despair into tears of peace. How? . . .God's plan is simple. He changes our faces through worship. mac lucado SIMPLY GRATEFUL!
The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me. Because the Lord has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound.
When we receive Christ as our Lord and Saviour, we are anointed to preach to the poor, bringing healing to the brokenhearted, preach the good news of Salvation to the captives and releasing those who are bound in their own sin. Jesus gives us everything we need to do these things. He equips the unqualified and He confounds the wise when He does. SIMPLY GRATEFUL!
If we say we have no sin, we are fooling ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 1 John 1:8
Sometimes we come to Christ with our sin but all we want is a covering. And one wonders if God, even in His great mercy, will heal what we conceal....How can God touch what we cover up? Only when we are willing to bring into light the darkness that is hidden within will we see His Healing Hand upon us. SIMPLY GRATEFUL!
